Advocate. Support. Educate
What Is a Doula?
A doula is a non-clinical support professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. They are your advocate and best friend during labor, delivery and even postpartum. Doulas make the transition into motherhood a less vulnerable, and supported, time for new (and new again) moms. Doulas do not provide medical care, make medical decisions, or replace your healthcare provider.
How does doula support work in the hospital?
I work collaboratively with hospital staff to support your comfort, confidence, and informed decision-making. My role complements your medical care by helping you stay grounded, supported, and heard throughout the birth process.
Support may include:
Comfort measures and positioning
Breathing and relaxation techniques
Emotional reassurance
Partner support and guidance
Helping you process information so you can make informed choices
Do I need a Doula?
A doula isn’t a requirement—it’s an added layer of support. If you’re seeking personalized education, calm guidance, and consistent support throughout labor and early postpartum, working with a doula may feel supportive for you. A consultation is a good way to talk through what kind of support you want and whether a doula fits into that picture.
Are you credentialed with local hospitals?
I follow hospital guidelines for non-clinical birth support and can complete vendor credentialing requirements when applicable. This allows me to support clients respectfully within hospital policies.
When does on-call and labor support begin?
On-call (24/7) availability begins at 38 weeks
Limited text support is available during early labor at home
Continuous labor support begins once active labor is established or upon hospital admission
This structure ensures you receive steady support while allowing for sustainable, focused care during labor.
What is postpartum support like?
Postpartum support focuses on:
Emotional processing and birth reflection
Adjustment to parenthood
Light lactation guidance
Recovery support and reassurance
Referrals to trusted local providers
The level and length of postpartum support varies by package.
What is not included in doula services?
To remain within scope of practice, doula services do not include:
Medical advice or clinical care
Diagnosing or treating conditions
Overnight newborn care
How does yoga fit into doula support?
Movement and breath support are part of my holistic approach to birth and postpartum care. Select packages include guided prenatal and postpartum yoga to support comfort, recovery, and nervous system regulation.
Yoga access varies by package and is clearly outlined in the package descriptions.
